Bishnupur holds consultation on polling station rationalisation ahead of electoral roll revision

Bishnupur, June 15 2026:
In connection with the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls, 2026, a district-level consultation meeting on the rationalisation of polling stations was held at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, Bishnupur on Monday.
The meeting chaired by District Election Officer (DEO) and Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, was attended by representatives of recognised National and State political parties, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), the Election Officer, and other election officials of the district.
According to a press note issued by the DEO, the meeting was convened to deliberate on the Assembly Constituencywise draft list of polling stations and proposals prepared for their rationalisation as part of Phase-III of the SIR process being carried out under the directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI) .
During the meeting, officials reviewed statutory timelines and compliance requirements laid down by the ECI .
It was highlighted that the rationalisation process must be completed by June 28, 2026, and that no polling station should have more than 1,200 electors.
EROs were also directed to ensure clear demarcation of polling station areas without any overlap.
The EROs of Bishnupur district presented their respective rationalisation proposals before representatives of political parties for scrutiny and discussion.
The proposals were examined in detail, leading to constructive deliberations and broad consensus among stakeholders on the proposed measures.
The DEO urged all election officials and political party representatives to extend full cooperation to ensure the smooth and successfill implementation of Phase-III of the SIR exercise in the district.
