Imphal, August 08 2025: The mortal remains of Maibam Ongbi Samita, who died post-delivery at Thoubal District Hospital, was claimed today by the concerned Joint Action Committee (JAC) and family members from the mortuary of JNIMS for cremation and final rites.

According to the JAC, Samita's body was claimed in view of the plight of the bereaved family, but no agreement has been reached with the Government in this regard.

Maibam Ongbi Samita (32), a resident of Tekcham Mayai Leikai, died on July 28 following a post-delivery complication at Thoubal District Hospital.

While coming to claim Samita's lifeless body from JNIMS mortuary with the family members, JAC Chairman Kh Meratombi said that the Government should furnish the post mortem report at the earliest and deliver justice.

"Until and unless justice is served, the JAC will not back off and will continue its agitation.

The medical department must also take action against the doctors and staff involved in the unfortunate incident," said Meratombi.
