Imphal, February 28 2024:
The 10 Kuki MLAs including two cabinet ministers were conspicuously missing from the 5th session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly session, which began on Wednesday, even as the assembly made no mention on whether or not they have taken leave of absence.
Neither the 10 Kuki MLAs nor majority of the 10 Naga MLAs took part in the previous session held on August 29, 2023 which ended within 11 minutes of the session's commencement.

The 10 Kuki MLAs who skipped Wednesday's session are Nemcha Kipgen (Kangpokpi), who is also the commerce and industries minister; Letpao Haokip (Tengnoupal), also the minister for Tribal Areas and Hills, Kimneo Haokip Hangshing (Saikul), Haokholet Kipgen (Saitu), Ngur-sanglur Sanate (Tipaimukh), Vungjagin Valte (Thanlon), Letzamang Haokip (Henglep), LM Khaute (Churachandpur), Paolienlal Haokip Saikot) and Chinlunthang Manlun (Singhat).
Meanwhile, Tadubi MLA N Kayisii had applied for leave of absent from the session which members of the House approved.
