Cabinet proposes Assembly Session from February 25

Imphal, February 05 2015:
The State Cabinet on Thursday resolved to request the Manipur Governor to convene the first sitting of the state Assembly for the year 2015 from February 25 to finalize the state budget for the next financial year 2015-16 .
The resolution was taken during the Cabinet meeting which took place at Chief Minister's Secretariat with CM O Ibobi in chair.
Briefing media persons about the meeting, spokesperson of the government and education minister Moirangthem Okendro stated that a resolution was passed on holding the tenth session of the tenth Manipur Legislative Assembly before the beginning of the next fiscal year.
The goal is to conclude the session which will feature the Governor's address before the Yaoshang festival begins, he stated.
He further announced that the Cabinet has given its approval to the introduction of Dhanamanjuri University Bill, 2014 during the next session to enable the establishment of a state university in Manipur under financial assistance from RUSA.
Though the Bill was introduced during the last Assembly sitting, it had to be ultimately withdrawn due to some omissions and commissions.
The proposed Dhanamanjuri University will be set up by bringing together the prominent colleges of the state namely the DM Colleges, GP Women College and LMS Law College.
The project has already gained the approval of the Project Approval Board (PAB) of RUSA.
The Manipur State Cultural University Bill, 2015 and draft Manipur Ropeway's Bills, 2015 have also got the Cabinet approval for introduction during the next Assembly session.
He added that the Cabinet has also agreed to fill up 24 vacant posts at the Manipur Forensic Science Laboratory in Pangei as part of its modernization process.
It also okayed the filling up of required posts of State Health Society under National Rural Health Mission and State Election Department.
The Cabinet further approved the Manipur Information Technology Policy, 2015 .
