Skill development programme on "Precision Agriculture Technologies" concludes

The 7 Days Customized Skill Development Training Programme on "Precision Agriculture Technologies" organised by PrecisionFarming Development Centre (PFDC), Imphal Centre concluded today at College of Agriculture (CoA), Central Agricultural University, Imphal.
The training programme was conducted under die sponsorship of National Committee on Precision Agriculture & Horticulture, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, said a release.
The valedictory function was attended by Prof Indira Sarangthem, Dean, CoA, CAU; Prof L Nabachandra Singh, Department of Agronomy, COA, CAU; Prof U Chaoba Singh, Department of Horticulture, COA, CAU and Prof Ak Bijaya Devi, Department of Horticulture, COA, CAU as presidium members.
The function began with a welcome address delivered by Prof Ng Piloo, Principal Investigator-PFDC Project, Imphal Centre, wherein he gave a brief report of the training programme which covered various aspects on precision agriculture technologies namely construction of protected structures, digital agriculture, IoT, crop production, soil management, crop protection, hydroponics, vertical farming, schemes for State Government, micro irrigation with exposure visits too.
A total of 33 numbers of farmers and entrepreneurs from Imphal East, Imphal West, Bisnupur, Thoubal, Kakching & Kamjong Districts actively participated in the programme with 20 resource persons from CoA, College of Food Technology, KVK, Senapati, Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur delivering lectures and conducted practical sessions.
Prof Indira Sarangthem expressed her happiness to the farmers for their active participation and urged them to update their activities in the future for further assistance in the best possible way from the institute.
As requested by the farmers for hands-on training on Trichoderma and Bordeaux mixture preparation, the Dean also assured to arrange the same in the near future.
Prof U Chaoba Singh called upon the farmers to adopt the precision agriculture technique.
The programme culminated with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Gayatri Kh, Assistant Professor, Department of Horticulture, CoA.
