Imphal, May 12 2024: Two men were found shot by unknown persons in Charoibung area under Mayang Imphal police station around 8pm Saturday.

The two have been identified as Md Sahid Khan (25) and Sahbul Islam (28) of Khabeisoi, Imphal East district.

According to a police report, both Sahid and Sahbul were reported shot and dumped on Saturday evening, suspected to be related to drug case.

Meanwhile, a combined team of Thoubal district police and 33 Assam Rifles rescued a man who was abducted and being transported around 8.30 pm Saturday, while arresting a person involved in the incident with a weapon.

The rescued man has been identified as Md Amir alias Boboi (24) s/o Md Habibur Rahman of Lilong Chingjao; while the abductor has been identified as Md Sharif Khan alias Masten (28) s/o Md Abudl Gafar alias Idrish Ali of Phoud-en Maning Leikai.

Md Sharif reportedly an active member of the newly formed armed group.

According to a police report.

the combined team of 33 AR and the Quick Response Team of Thoubal district police conducting frisking-checking operation in Waithou area along NH-102 around 8.30pm Saturday halted two men riding a Honda Activa and checked them resulting in the discovery that one of the men Md Amir alias Boboi, was being taken captive.

The team rescued him and detained Md Sharif Khan, who had reportedly abducted Amir.

The team also recovered one 9mm pistol and seven rounds from Sharif; who identified himself as an active member of the armed group.

Both the arrested person and the seized items have been handed over to Lilong PS for further legal action.

On the other-hand, a joint team of Kakching district police and commando, 191 Bn BSF and Pallel police station conducted search operation at Pallel Pioneer crossing in Chandel Lamkhai (junction) and near a hospital, while further searching around 70 houses in Pakthabi area from 5.30am Sunday.

In all, 150 people were verified but there is no report of any arrest or recovery of weapon.

In another development, police on Sunday arrested two individuals involved in the abduction and assault of four Manipur Police personnel the previous day.

The arrested miscreants have been identified as Taibanganba Sanoujam (25) and Moirangthem Bobo (40).Search operations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining individuals involved in the incident, according to a statement issued by the police control room.

In another operation the same day, security forces arrested a member of the proscribed KYKL, identified as Asem Netaji Singh alias Neta (40), from Ninthoukhong, Bishnupur district.

The arrest led to the recovery of one computer set and a mobile phone.

Netaji was reportedly involved in various extortion cases targeting the public, government employees, and business establishments.

In a separate incident on Friday, security forces rescued four individuals who had been abducted by unknown miscreants from Bishnupur district.

The rescue operation took place in Charangpat under Thoubal Police Station.

The rescued individuals were subsequently reunited with their families.

An investigation has been initiated into the incident, the statement added.
