Second round of talk between JCILPS and Govt ; No breakthrough achieved

No breakthrough could be achieved during the second round of talk between JCILPS and the State Government today.
After the Government released the seven arrested AMSU functionaries this morning, a 20-member team of JCILPS attended a meeting with the Government this afternoon.
However, no representative from the JAC constituted against the death of Sapam Robinhood turned up for the meeting.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting at around 8.30 pm, JCILPS convenor-in-charge Khomdram Ratan said that no understanding could be arrived at in the meeting.
Ratan said that although JCILPS brought up their already forwarded five points for discussion during the meeting, State Government representatives could not disclose anything about these points during the hours long meeting.
Although, the meeting dragged on.
Government representatives could not state anything concrete about these points till the end, he said.
However, JCILPS would seriously study the Government's moves before taking any decision on future course of agitation in consultation with the masses, he said.
JCILPS alone would never take any decision on safeguarding indigenous people of the State, Ratan said and added that they did not give any final word on whether to claim Robinhood's body or not to the Government.
He also said that there is still no change in JCILPS's demand for passing a new ILPS Bill by the State Assembly within August 15.Ratan further said that JCILPS is still in the dark about the points mentioned in the new draft Bill.
On the other hand, the Government today released the seven arrested AMSU functionaries from Sajiwa Central jail without any condition.
People accorded them a warm welcome at Khurai Lamlong.
Later, the student leaders visited the family of Sapam Robinhood.
