Imphal, August 12 2015:
Manipur Library Association and Educational Guide Centre Singjamei jointly observed the Library Day 2015 on Wednesday at the complex of Educational Guide Centre.
Retd Principal of Manipur College, L Sadananda and President of MALA, Chaoba Singh attended the gracious function as chief guest and president respectively.
The attendants paid floral tribute to the photograph of Prof Dr SR Ranganathan who was born in Chennai.
Prof Dr SR Ranganathan is known as the Father of Library Movement in India.

Ritd Librarian of Manipur University, Dr Thounaojam Khomdom, who was the special guest at the observance, said that since library is the best place to get knowledge, Manipur Library Association should implement the Manipur Public Library Act, 1988 .
If the Act is implemented in Manipur, those who cannot buy books or those poor students who have no access to internet facility will be benefitted a lot without wasting much labour and money, said Khomdon.
Retd Librarian of RIMS and former President of MALA, Dr N Giridhari, Retd Prof of Manipur University, Dr E Dinamani, former President of MALA, L Sobita Devi, former Secretary of MALA and President of EGC N Inaocha also spoke on the occasion as special guests.
