Imphal, September 21 2026: Well known fashion designer Robert Naorem showcased Manipur's textile traditions at an international fashion showcase held on Sunday at Melia Milano Hotel, Milan, Italy.

The showcase, part of a major fashion event featuring 27 shows by designers from across the world, featured 22 models walking the runway in creations by Robert Naorem.

The show marked 10 years since the official launch of his label, celebrating a decade of taking Manipur's handloom and craftsmanship to wider audiences.

The showcase was organised in collaboration with the Department of Sericulture, Government of Manipur, with support from Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh.

The collection focused on textiles produced in Manipur and designs conceptualised by Robert Naorem, blending traditional heritage with contemporary vocabulary.

Organised by Prasanna and New Stars, the event brought together designers from London, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan and other countries.

Robert Naorem was selected to open the sequence of shows, placing Manipur textiles at the forefront.

The showcase demonstrated the versatility and contemporary possibilities of Manipuri textiles beyond conventional trade fairs, creating new avenues for collaboration between Manipuri textile practitioners and the global fashion industry.
