JNN celebrates 21st foundation day

Jiri News Network (JNN) celebrated its 21st foundation day today at JNN Conference Hall, Babupara, Jiribam.
The event, organised by the Jiri News Network Committee (JNCC), was graced by Jiri News Network Committee president Seram Herajit Singh; Manipur Youth Front Assam (MYFA) president Th Brojen Singh; Apunba Jiribam Meira Paibi (AJMP) president S Sushila Devi; and Women Association for Socio-Economic Development (WASED) president N Nivarani Devi as presidium members.
In his keynote address, JNN founder M Romeo Singh underscored the significant role of media and the need for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to acknowledge these responsibilities in driving social change and development.
He stressed the heightened awareness among CSOs would help strengthen their relationship with the media and foster collaborative efforts.
Romeo further highlighted that as global development trends evolve, CSOs must adapt by revising outdated practices and embracing positive changes.
During the event, attendees observed a minute's silence in honour of late Yumkhaibam Surmila, a former JNN anchor.
The dignitaries also presented gifts and a cash assistance of Rs 3,000 to Surmila's daughter, Y Langlen.
CSO representatives and JNN staff were also acknowledged with simple tokens of appreciation.
The invited guests and presidium members praised JNN for its dedicated service to the people and expressed hopes that the organisation would continue its impactful work for many more years.
Later in the day, JNN members visited the Gulamchat Children's Home at Patchao, where they distributed T-shirts, note books, pens, pencils and other essential items to the children.
