Tree plantation, cleanliness drive conducted

In a bid to address the environmental concerns and rejuvenate the degraded forests, Village Volunteer Force (VVF) Manipur on Sunday launched a mass tree plantation campaign at Heibok Ching in Imphal West district.
Speaking to the media, WF Manipur president Takhellambam Ramananda said that the mass tree plantation campaign which began today at 11 am will continue till Monday.
He shared that the State has witnessed extreme and unpredictable weather in the last couple of years due to rampant deforestation across the State.
"Considering the dangerous impact of climate change & global warming, the VVF Manipur took up the initiative of organising a mass tree plantation campaign at Heibok Ching to enhance the local ecosystem, contribute to the fight against global warming, and create a greener & healthier environment for future generations", he added.
Meanwhile, Five Brothers on Sunday conducted a cleanliness drive in the surrounding areas of the Marjing Polo Statue in Heingang, Imphal East district.
The cleanliness which began at 5.30 am was participated by members of Five Brothers including James, Roshan, Surjakanta, Herojit and Dayanand.
