At the event, Ng Bhogendra Meitei announced the annual sports meet's commencement, with 700 participants from 14 districts set to compete in a five-day event concluding on February 12 .
The only districts not participating are Jiribam, Kangpokpi, and Pherzawl.
A CWC team is also participating.
The five-day sports meet will feature various events, including open boys football, athletics, long jump, badminton for boys and girls, carrom, chess; and Mukna (traditional Manipuri wrestling) .
Ng Bhogendra highlighted the event's focus on encouraging student participation and promoting inter-district interaction, rather than just competition.
He noted extensive mobilization efforts paid off, with hopes for increased participation in future events.
He also shared that the Department of Education (S) is actively planning an exchange programme.
He explained that the plan involves sending students from Imphal-based schools to hill districts and bringing students from hill schools to Imphal for a 10-day or one-week stay.
The goal, he added, is to foster friendship among students and give them chances to learn new things.
Bhogendra noted the department plans to roll this out mid-session, before exams start.
