Chandel, October 05 2025:
Strongly refuting and condemning "certain misleading and defamatory reports" which appeared on print and electronic media on September 28 and October 3 concerning Th Beshang and Sk Lovemol, J Rengtit Lamkang, secretary of Thamlapokpi village has issued a clarification.
"No one should attempt to damage another person's reputation or defame their family, and everyone should verify facts before spreading unverified information that could create misunderstanding within the village community," Rengtit said.
He claimed that Sk Lovemol is of Nepali origin, and her grandfather Sk Kansha came to Lamkang Khunou and married K Selmukh Lamkang's second daughter, K Tochen.
As per Lamkang customary law, the Thakuri clan was formally adopted into the Lamkang community, and Sk Kansha was duly recognized as such.
He further said that Thamlapokpi village was officially founded on February 15, 1947 with nine founding members, including Sk Kansha Lamkang, as one of the recognized founder members.
J Rengtit also pointed out that claims made by Sk Lovemol about being the village chief are "false and misleading" .
The village authority currently functions properly, and all administrative and developmental matters are handled collectively under due process.
He added that Th Beshang, during his father's tenure as chief, actively contributed to village development and other matters, but that does not give anyone the right to unilaterally declare themselves as village head.
He went on to clarify that the village chief election was properly conducted after due consultation with the village assembly, and the list and photographs of the elected members are on record.
The procedures were properly followed, and documentary evidence is available.
The Church, the LNKK, and the SDO office also witnessed the oath-taking ceremony, confirming the legitimacy of the process, he added.
He emphasized that no individual is above the village, and no one should claim ownership or superiority over others.
The village belongs to everyone, and progress can only be achieved through unity, mutual respect and cooperation.
He appealed to all villagers to avoid spreading unfounded statements that could disturb peace and harmony, and instead focus on the collective development
of Thamlapokpi village.
