MP Dr Ranjan lauds role of frontline workers

The government of India has produced three vaccines to allay fear of Coronavirus from the minds of the people of the country, stated Lok Sabha MP Dr RK Ranjan Singh while reminding that frontline workers, including CMOs of every district of Manipur, have great role to play in eliminating the virus from the soil of the land.
The Lok Sabha MP stated this while handing over 63 oxygen concentrators of 10-litre capacity to CMOs of Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Noney, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Chandel, Kakching and Thoubal districts.
Oxygen concentrators sponsored by Give Foundation India under the aegis of Action Aid Association India were handed over to CMOs of eight districts in a simple function organised by People Resource Development Association (PRDA), Bishnupur at its office on Saturday.
The effort put in by doctors, nurses and all those in medical fraternity towards saving lives of the people from COVID-19 is significant and invaluable service rendered by them need to be encouraged, Dr Ranjan said.
Health experts have already indicated before the arrival of second wave that North East will be COVID-19 hotspot and there are numerous shortages before onset of the third wave, he noted and appealed to people to accept that the virus has been caus-ing unprecedented miseries to all sections of the society.
Stressing the need for continuing to take utmost precaution to prevent contracting the infectious disease, he also stated that time has come to vigorously follow the age-old Manipuri practice of changing cloth and taking bath before entering home after returning from work.
Delivering the key note address of the event, PRDA secretary L Suranjoy Singh said that it has been helping people from time to time with more emphasis on human rights, Loktak lake and health issues and accordingly donated oxygen concentrators to help the authorities lessen impact of the pandemic.
He appealed to the CMOs concerned to consider the donated oxygen concentrators as asset of district hospital, community health centre or COVID care centre, and assured to provide oximeter as the soonest possible.
National Health Mission's state mission director N Shy-amjai Singh also attended the distribution event.
