Bishnupur, February 28 2025:
If the State Government is ultimately dissolved leading to the full-fledged imposition of President's Rule in the State, then those who appealed for PR and demanded the Chief Minister's resignation should be held responsible, said Moirang AC MLA Thongam Shanti.
He made the statement during the inspection of development works undertaken in Moirang constituency under MLA Local Area Development Fund.
The MLA continued to say that many are now demanding the withdrawal of President's Rule and formation of a popular Government.
At this juncture, he questioned the whereabouts of those who previously called for imposition of PR in the State and the Chief Minister's resignation.
He also stated that Nongthombam Biren Singh's resignation from the position of Chief Minister must be one of the firsts in Indian history.
Stating that N Biren Singh submitted a seven point memo which called for safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur and protection of indigenous communities among others, he added that it is time for the people to realize that they will fall on hard times if the Manipur Government is dissolved.
Thongam Shanti further assured the people of Moirang that developmental works will continue despite the imposition of President's Rule in order to make Moirang one of the most developed constituencies in the State.
He sought the public's cooperation and support in this endeavour.
