Imphal, January 29 2025: Nine more Kuki militants were killed today as the gunfight between KNA-B and Manipur rebel groups continued for the third day near Border Pillar no 87 at Yangoupok village in Kamjong.

The gun battle took place near the Indo-Myanmar border.

A well placed source said that more than 20 Kuki militants have been killed since the beginning of the fierce gunfight between the outfits on January 27 .

It is reported that cadres of KNA-B launched an attack at the cadres of the Manipur based rebel groups in the morning using weaponized drones and other sophisticated weapons near the border areas.

A heavy exchange of gunfire ensued after the cadres of Manipur rebel groups retaliated, killing nine Kuki militants at the spot.

Eight arms and rounds of ammunition used by the Kuki militants have been seized by the cadres of opposing rebel groups, the source added.

The gunfight lasted till evening and the situation is still tense at the border areas in Kamjong.

Sources also said that movement of a large number of Kuki militants has been witnessed in between Border Pillars 85 and 87 .

Some of the Kuki militants who were gunned down are residents of Kangpokpi and Churachandpur as per the Aadhaar cards recovered from them.
