Imphal, August 17 2011:
Clubs, NGOs and 28 Pradhans of Imphal west District has sharply reacted to the proposed Sadar Hills map and demanded that Sadar Hills should not be declared before demarcating the exact boundary.
A public meeting was organized in this regard at the residence of Ng Maimu, Pradhan of Phayeng Mamang Leikai and resolved that the dispute arising out on the issue of the demand of a full fledged Sadar Hills District will remain until and unless the unlawful encroachment of plain areas under the proposed Sadar Hills map be solved through proper demarcation.
Ex-Minister N biren said that nobody is against the demand of SHDDCs demand but it should be made clear to all about Sadar Hills map.
Unlawful encroachment is not tolerable and as such it was thought worthwhile to bring up the issue before the government before any unwanted incidents arise.
There is no area in nine districts where Sadar hills proposed map doesn't touch.
Four Pradhans has come under Sadar Hills.
Kangpokpi was once under Imphal west.
After a lot of lobbying it was later on converted Sadar hills and published in the Gazette, he said.
He further said that Senjam Chirang, Haraoching, Langol, Nongmaiching and Waithou Hills has been claimed by them as part of Sadar Hills.
A demarcation process has to done at the earliest.
It would be unwise on the part of the state government to declare Sadar Hills as a full fledged district before proper boundary demarcation process starts.
The Pradhans who were present at the public meeting said that even the Kangchup foothills has now been inhabited by Kukis and are trying to convert it as a part of Sadar Hills.
There have been issues arising out of such incidents before.
All these misconception should be sorted out at the earliest by the state government.
