National TB Elimination program held

On the occasion of 43rd World Tuberculosis Day, a National TB Elimination Program was held today at the hall of Education Enhancement Organisation (EEO), Lamding on the theme 'Yes! We can end TB'.
The National TB elimination program was organised by the District Health Society, Thoubal.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Thoubal, Dr Y Nokul Singh; District TB Officer Thoubal, Dr Y Shameen Devi; District AIDS Control Officer Thoubal, Dr Y Bijendra Singh; District Coordinator District TB Centre Thoubal, Thongam Steffi and EEO Club president Y Ashakumar Singh attended as the presidium members of the event.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Y Nokul Singh highlighted the importance of regular check ups and conducting relevant tests for TB detection to start the timely treatment for TB eradication.
He also stressed on the need of raising mass awareness on TB and its symptoms such as prolonged coughing, body weakness and loss of appetite and so on.
He appealed to all to go for TB testing if a person experiences the above symptoms at the nearby TB Test Centre.
He went on to inform that for Thoubal district, the TB test centres are located at District TB Office in Thoubal CMO complex, District Hospital Thoubal, Community Health Centre (CHC) Yaripok and CHC Heirok.
As a part of the programme, three ASHA workers were honoured for their remarkable efforts and nutritious foods were presented to TB patients.
Furthermore, edible items were donated to the relief camps for the conflict survivors.
