Imphal, April 10 2025: Ahead of the Martyrs' Day observed every year on April 13, families of the 'martyrs' have appealed to the public to offer floral tributes at the Cheiraoching memorial complex, Thangmeiband, in between 6 am to 5 pm .

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Monday, Organising Committee convenor Naorem Ibohanbi explained that floral tributes are offered atop the Cheiraoching complex annually in memory of the nine individuals who lost their lives in the Kodompokpi incident on April 13, 1982 .

Informing that the court has granted permission for offering tributes at the site from 6 am to 5 pm, he urged the public to participate in the observance and also appealed to all concerned not to impose any bandh or blockade on the day.

High Court advocate N Gojen Singh, who was also present at the press conference, said that due to previous instances of restrictions on organising the event, an appeal was made to the High Court on April 4 .

The court subsequently issued an order allowing conduct of the tribute event from 6 am to 5 pm at Cheiraoching.

The chief secretary and home secretary have been informed of the court's directive, although no official response has been received yet.

Nonetheless, as there is a valid order from the High Court, the public can attend the tribute without any hesitation.
