Imphal, May 07 2009: Killing of a youth at his own house by Imphal west district police commandos made angry to the residents of Uripok Polem Leikai who blocked the traffic along the Imphal-Kangchup road today at around 10.30 pm even as two more suspected militants were gunned down today by the security at spate shoot out incidents.

Police foiled the protestors later and resumed normal traffic for the day even though there was a heated argument between the police personnel led by SDPO, Lamphel Pupanjai and womenfolk blocking the road by hanging women garments on the road.

A youth identified as Ngangbam Naoboy (27) son of Tombi said to be a PREPAK cadre was gunned down by a team of Imphal west police commandos last night at around 1.30 am allegedly after rounded up from his own house at Uripok Polem Leikai under Lamphel police station.

The Imphal West district police commando killed him in a retaliatory action of the police commandos when the youth with a small arm opened fired toward them, stated Imphal West district SP, L Kailun in a statement today.

It stated that the police received specific information about the presence of an armed cadre of the banned PREPAK at a house in Uripok Polem Leikai, who was also intimidating the locals by showing his weapon and extorting money in the locality yesterday.

A team of Imphal West commando rushed to the area last night at around 1.30 am and cordoned off the house.

Suddenly, an armed person ran out of the house from the back side of the house and opened fire towards the police team, the statement said maintaining that an unknown armed youth was killed in a retaliatory fire of the police at the spot.

It also claimed recovery of a M-20 pistol loaded with 2 live rounds from the possession of the slain youth.

Empty cases of one M-20, five AK Assault Rifles and one 9mm were also recovered from the spot.

On the other hand speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, mother of the slain youth Komolini said that last night some persons knocked at the door of the house last night by calling Naoboy.

On thinking that they were friends of her son she asked them to come later in the morning if they wanted to meet her son Naoboy.

At that they threatened to break the door if not open.

At she tried to evacuate her son on the back door to the neighbouring house.

But when opened the door, police commandos were found taking position targeting the door.

The police commandos dragged out her son and insisted her to inter inside the house.

Amidst the chaotic sense when she refused to inter, they killed her son, Komolini cried.

Decrying the killing of the local youth, residents of Uripok Polem Leikai took to streets along the Imphal-Kangvhup road and blocked the traffic along the Imphal-Kangchup road today at around 10.30 pm to register a strong protest against the police act of killing the youth at his own house.

They blocked the road by stretching rope hang with women garments which disturbed the traffic till a team of Lamphel police led by its SDPO arrived and efforted to disperse the protesting women.

There erupted a heated argument between the police and protestors but police took control of the situation and resumed normal traffic.

Two more youths whom police said suspected underground activists have also been killed by security forces at different places in the state today.

In the first incident, a suspected underground cadre was killed early this morning around 4.30 in a reported encounter with 31 Assam Rifles personnel at Seijang village under Moreh police station in Chandel district, according to a report.

The slain underground activist is yet to be identified, the report added.

The other suspect was killed in a reported encounter with a combined force of Thoubal district police commando and 34 AR at a place under Thoubal police station this evening around 7 .

One carbine and three live rounds were recovered from the possession of the slain activist.

The identity of the deceased cadre could not be established immediately, a report maintained.
