Imphal, September 30 2025: Sahitya Thoupang Lup and Laishram Samarendra Birth Centenary Celebration Committee jointly celebrated International Translation Day at the auditorium hall of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Keishampat.

On the occasion, the English translation of Laishram Samrendra's "Wa Amata Haige Telanga" produced by the Lup was also released.

At the event, Nongthombam Kunjamohan Translation Award was handed over to eminent translator Salam Tomba.

The award comes with a cash prize and citation.

The event was attended by Uttam Ngangom, MCS Director, DIPR and MAHUD as the chief guest and Professor Thounaojam Ratankumar, former HoD, Department of English, Manipur University as the functional president.

Chanamthabam Sharmila, research scholar, MU spoke at length about the use of language and method of writing in Wa Amata Haige Telanga.

Additionally, Sahitya Akademi awardee Haobam Satyabati chaired a poetry session as part of the event today.
