RIMS hosts pioneering Phacoemulsification workshop

The Department of Ophthalmology, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, is spearheading a groundbreaking three-day CME-curh-Workshop on "Phacoemulsification surgery" from March 26 to 28, marking the first hands-on training of its kind in Manipur.
Supported technically by M/s Alcon Laboratories India Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru, the programme offers intensive practical sessions in phacoemulsification - a cutting-edge cataract treatment involving ultrasound-assisted lens removal and foldable intraocular lens implantation.
This advanced technique addresses cataracts, the world's leading cause of blindness, with greater efficiency and precision.

As Manipur's premier medical institution, RIMS pioneered phacoemulsification in the State years ago and continues to build expertise by training its faculty and postgraduate residents.
The workshop is expected to play a crucial role in disseminating these skills, ultimately benefiting healthcare across the nation.
In a parallel event today at Banting Hall, RIMS's Official Language Cell successfully, conducted a Hindi workshop on "Administrative Terminology: Various Dimensions" .
Faculty, staff, and students engaged actively in sessions aimed at boosting Hindi usage in official work and clarifying terminology across administrative contexts.
These initiatives underscored RIMS's commitment to both clinical innovation and institutional capacity-building.
