Addl Chief Secretary Anurag Bajpai reviews various projects at Kamjong

Anurag Bajpai, PCCF & HoFF, and Additional Chief Secretary, Textiles, Commerce & Industry (TCI) today visited and reviewed various schemes/ projects at Kamjong district covering villages such as Lungphu, Shingcha and Bungpa Khullen.
The Addl Chief Secretary was accompanied by Debala Laiphrakpam, Conservator of Forest/Eastem Circle; Elangbam Jiten Singh, Director, Handloom and Textile; Rangnamei Rang Peter, DC Kamjong District, Napolean Rongmei, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO); and other DLOs.
During the discussion with the Village Headman and Authority leaders of Lungphu Village, Anurag Bajpai appreciated their efforts for maintaining a dense Community Forest Reserve and informed them of the efforts which the Forest department is taking up for their development.
He apprised them of the benefits which the community will get by capitalising the forest resource base, thereby uplifting the living standard of the villagers.
He directed the DFO to install Camera Traps in coordination with the Village Authority in Lungphu Community Reserve for assessing the wildlife diversity.
He encouraged the villagers to grow bamboo on Jhum lands under agroforestry model as the bamboo will fetch commercial benefits for them in near future with possible investments in the State.
Further, Bajpai with his team visited the site proposed by the DFO/Kamjong at Shingcha Village for developing eco-tourism.
Certain directions were issued to DFO to improve the layout and make the site more attractive for tourists.
During meeting with Village Authority of Shingcha held at Community Hall for Eco-tourism Project, Anurag Bhajpai hint various projects to upgrade infrastructure in order to boost tourism potential as well as local art & craft and socio- economic development of the local inhabitants.
Anurag Bajpai also held an extensive review meeting with DC Kamjong, Police officials, DFO and other DLOs of various departments.
Various schemes/projects being taken up in the District by Education, Health, Rural Development, Industries, Tribal Affairs & Hills, Agriculture, Horticulture, Skill Development etc were reviewed.
The shortage of teachers in Schools and Doctors & Nurses in Hospitals was specifically emphasized.
In order to sensitize the people about various welfare schemes available for them, all the officers were directed to make posters on welfare schemes and get it pasted in community halls of various villages.
Further, DFO, GM (DIC), Project Manager (Handloom & Textiles), District Agriculture Officer, District Horticulture Officer and officer in-charge for MSRLM were directed to hold frequent outreach programs together in coordination with Village Authorities.
The Addl Chief Secretary also launched Mini TRIFOOD Units for 75 Self Help Groups under VDVK scheme celebrating Nation First @75 Campaign and distributed high-end machines which would enhance their production capacity and quality to compete in the market.
Later, Bajpai laid the Foundation Stones for Conservation and Breeding Centre of HoolockGibbon at Bungpa Khullen Village, a unique effort of the Forest Department.
and first Common Workshed in Kamjong district for Weavers at Leisen, Bungpa khullen village celebrating Nation First @75 Campaign.
95 Handlooms were also distributed to the weavers of the village.
Towards the end of the visit, the team led by Anurag Bajpai inspected the proposed site for Industrial Estate at Kamjong District, which was found suitable.
He directed the DC, Kamjong to complete the formalities for transfer/donation of land from village authority at no cost for the purpose and economic growth of the people, village and Kamjong district.
