Imphal, April 12 2025:
According to an American Journal of Clinical Cardiology and Cardiovascular Interventions report published on April 4, the survival rate of heart attack patients quickly and accurately diagnosed and appropriately treated at SKY Hospital, India is better than the global average survival rate.
Patients with suspected heart attack are seen at the Heart Attack Treatment Centre (HAC) of Sky Hospital within 5 minutes of arrival at the Centre and appropriate treatment initiated immediately as every minute's delay causes death of thousands of heart muscle cells, said a press release.
Speaking to media persons during a press conference held at the conference hall of Sky Hospital and Research Centre Pvt Ltd today, Managing Director Dr L Shyamkishore Singh, FRCP (London) said that the report is the publication of a detailed research conducted between January 2018 and January 2020 .
He stated that the global survival rate of patients with heart attacks is 80% to 88% .
However at Sky Hospital, the survival rate stands at 92%, exceeding the global average.
Terming it a moment of pride not only for the hospital but the entire State, the Chief Consultant Cardiologist of Sky Hospital went on say that in case of an acute Myocardial Infarction (MI), if the patient is swiftly hospitalized, given accurate diagnosis and appropriate high standard treatment, then the patient has a high chance of recovery.
He appealed to the people of Manipur to be aware of symptoms of heart attack such as chest pain, left arm pain, sudden onset palpitation, dizziness, breathlessness, sweating, nausea and vomiting and the importance of quick response time (QRT) to rush, as soon as possible, to heart hospitals like Sky Hospital which has track record of higher survival rate.
The best treatment provided at the acute phase of MI leads to longer survival of patients in later years, he added.
