PHE Thoubal Division seizes illegal water pumps

Thoubal, November 06 2026: The Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, Thoubal Division, conducted a drive today at various locations under the Tangjeng Water Supply Scheme in Thoubal district and seized water pumps being used illegally to draw water in violation of established norms.

The drive was conducted as part of efforts to regulate water distribution and ensure an equitable supply of drinking water to the public.

The drive was conducted by a team led by Narengbam Livingstone Singh, Executive Engineer, PHE Division Thoubal in collaboration with Thoubal Police Station team.

Addressing media persons during a press meet held at Thoubal DC complex after the drive, N Livingstone said that the surprised drive was conducted upon receiving complaints from the consumers under Tangjeng Water Supply Scheme that they are not getting regular water supply.

During the drive, it was found that water pumps were used to draw water at various consumer distribution points and mainline points which is really unfortunate, he said.

He said that the appropriate legal actions will be taken up against the violators.

He further appealed to the consumers under PHE Thoubal Division to use water wisely and refrain from resorting to illegal means which disrupts regular water supply.
