7-days workshop on Manipuri classical dance "Bhanggi Achouba Pareng" wraps up

Bishnupur, April 01 2025: The 7-days non-residential workshop on Manipuri classical dance "Bhangi Achouba Pareng" was concluded on Monday at Panthoibi Thang-Ta & Jagoi Sindam Shanglen located at Moirangkhunou under Bishnupur district.

"Bhangi Achouba Pareng" is one of the five key dance compositions of "Ras Leela" .

The 7-days workshop which began on March 25, 2025 is organised by Menaka Nritya Academy, Moirang.

It was attended by Ex-servicemen, Loubuktongbam Bimol Sharma as chief guest, Panthoibi Thang-Ta & Jagoi Sindam Shanglen, principal Laishram Rajen as functional president and meira paibi leader, Ngasepam Gambhini Devi as guest of honour.

Altogether 25 artists from the district took part in the workshop programme with Guru Ngasepam Menaka, founder of Menaka Nritya Academy, Moirang and Junior Research Fellow of Ministry of Culture as the guru of the workshop.

At the closing event, a special performance of "Bhanggi Achouba Pareng" was showcased and enthralled the audience.

Speaking in this connection, Ng Menaka stated that "Bhanngi Achouba Pareng" which is among the five dance compositions of Ras Leela is one of the key dance forms and is considered compulsory while performing Ras Leela.

She stated that such a workshop programme was organised with the aim to promote and spread awareness on the dance form "Bhanggi Achouba Pareng" among the young art & culture enthusiasts.
