Sit-protest staged against arrest of village volunteers

Thoubal, December 27 2024: Wangjing Meira Paibi and women vendors of Wangjing keithel staged a sit-in protest today at Wangjing keithel against the killing and arrest of six village volunteers by security forces in Salungpham under Thoubal district.

During the protest, protesters displayed placards like, "We condemn Salungpham killing", "Don't arrest village volunteers", "Take actions against those police commandos involved in Salungpham firing incident", "Release village volunteers immediately without any condition", "Repeal AFSPA immediately" .

During the demonstration, one of the protesters urged the Government to immediately release the arrested village volunteers and also demanded to immediately remove AFSPA from the State of Manipur.
