UDYAM registration drive held in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, November 20 2025:
The District Industries Centre (DIC), Ukhrul, under the aegis of Directorate of Trade Commerce & Industries, Manipur conducted a UDYAM registration drive for the residents of Ukhrul and Chingai block villages at My Bharat Yuva Hall, Hamleikhong Ukhrul.
The programme was held under the Raising and Accelerating of MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme to promote local business activities.
Resource person S Phungringla, Project Manager, Textile & Handloom, Ukhrul, highlighted the wide-ranging prospects and scope of the textile industry.
She said that segments like apparel, cotton, and technical textiles continue to have significant demand in international markets.
She also pointed out that online platforms are now offering artisans direct access to global customers, bypassing traditional supply chains and creating new opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
Phungringla further emphasised the importance of registering brands to secure names and trademarks, which she described as essential for long-term business sustainability.
Meanwhile, DIC Ukhrul, General Manager Themreiyo T Awungshi encouraged entrepreneurs to register their business on the UDYAM portal to avail government support and financial benefits.
He also urged the locals of Ukhrul district to take full advantage of such schemes for their economic empowerment Altogether, 130 individuals from various villages including Shokvao, Choithar, Marem, Talui, Chingjaroi, Phungchame participated in the registration drive.
Of them, 32 individuals were distributed UDYAM certificates by the GM of DIC, Ukhrul and Kamjong.
