International Women's Day was celebrated widely across the State on March 8, 2023 under the theme "Digital Innovation and Technologies for Gender Equality" .
On this day, All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) organised International Women's Day celebration at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) .
The programme was graced by Head of Manipuri Department, Manipur University, Professor Dr Toijam Tampha; AMAWOVA president Yumkhaibam Kunjarani and Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibee Apunba Manipur president Longjam Memchoubi as the presidium members.
Dr Silleima Chanu Naoroibam, Assistant Professor of History Department, GP Women's College attended the programme as the resource person.

Delivering the keynote address, AMAWOVA general secretary Kshetrimayum Sujata said that the AMAWOVA has been celebrating International Women's Day on the theme 'Let us carry the struggle forward' since 1995. She also briefed on the history and importance of observing the day.
The dignitaries including AMUCO president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang and Yumkhaibam Kunjarani among others lauded the role of women in the development of the society.
ETA Northeast Women's Network organized Women of Substance Award 2023 ceremony on the occasion of International Women's Day today at Hotel Imphal.
21 women achievers were awarded for their exemplary work in various fields in today's award presentation ceremony.
On the occasion of International Women's Day, Wakhallon Mannaba Apunba (WAMA), Kangleipak honoured two eminent women personalities RK Tharaksana of Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai and Sumati Sougrakpam of Singjamei Sougrakpam Leikai on March 8, 2023 .
A press release by WAMA informed that these two women were honoured with mementos and shawls in recognition of their selfless efforts and contributions for the promotion of people's welfare.
A team of WAMA led by its president M Naokhomba and vice-president W Gojen Meetei along with its members went to their residences and presented the shawls and mementos.
WAMA said that it will continue to laud the countless contributions made by women in significant issues for the betterment of the State and for guiding the upcoming generation towards the right path.
Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal celebrated International Women's Day at the Conference Hall of IBSD.
During the event, eminent women personalities of Manipur spoke on different topics, said a press release by IBSD Imphal.
Professor Sarangthem Indira Devi, Dean, College of Agriculture, CAU, Imphal delivered a lecture on "Gender Equality-A new pace towards equity in NE Region" while Homila Hongrei, Director, Department of Science & Technology, Govt of Manipur delivered spoke on contribution of women in the society and women as a force to change and Professor GA Shantibala Devi, former Dean of School of Life Sciences, Manipur University delivered a speech on "On the way to Gender Equality" .
The event was organised under the guidance of Professor Pulok Kumar Mukherjee, Director, IBSD, Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Mukherjee said International Women's Day celebrates womanhood, their social, political, cultural, economic achievements and their significant contributions to society to celebrate the achievements of women for change in gender equality.
