MANIREDA informs public about subsidised products

Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) Joint Director Wakambam Suraj has urged people to avail the subsidies offered on biogas plants, solar water heaters and solar water pumps by MANIREDA under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) .
He made the statement during a "one-day orientation and awareness programme on harnessing renewable energy sources and discussion on different MNRE schemes related to farmers" held at Uchiwa Makha Leikai Community Hall organised by MANIREDA under the sponsorship of MNRE.
The programme was held under the theme "Transforming Energy: A Step Forward With Solar Pumps and Biogas Technology" .
Addressing the gathering, the MANIREDA Joint Director said that out of approximately 1000 solar water heaters, 500 have been given to beneficiaries.
The Agency still has an inventory of roughly 500 solar water heaters.
While the project cost of a solar water heater is Rs 36,906, a beneficiary can get it for Rs 18,453 .
A household that uses a solar water heater can save around 1.5 kW of electricity and it has the capacity to deliver 100 litres of hot water per day, said Wakambam Suraj.
On another note, he informed that people who rear cattle and pigs can get biogas plants constructed at subsidized rates.
Saying that the plant is modern and comes in two varieties, the MANIREDA Joint Director said that the project cost of the Cubic Meter 1 biogas plant is Rs 44,776.82, out of which MNRE bears Rs 17,000 and MANIREDA bears Rs 13,432.15.The beneficiary's share is Rs 14,341.67 .
Meanwhile, the project cost of the Cubic Meter 2 biogas plant is Rs 61,277.57, out of which the share borne by MNRE and MANIREDA are Rs 22,000 and Rs 18,383.27 respectively.
The beneficiary's share comes down to Rs 20,894.30 .
Interested individuals can visit MANIREDA Office at North AOC to avail these benefits, said Wakambam Surjit.
He also advised people to attend such orientation and awareness programmes and get the necessary information from the officials.
