Thoubal, October 09 2024:
Aggrieved locals staged a sit-in protest at Yairipok Keithel today demanding justice for the allegedly suspicious death of Sagolshem Lenin (26), warden at Helping Hands Group (HHG) Academy at Ghari yesterday morning.
Lenin, who is the son of S Inaoba from Leirongthel Pitra under Heirok AC in Thoubal district was found "hung to death" at the Academy campus where he served as a warden.
Today's protest demonstration was organised by the JAC Against the Suspicious Death of Sagolshem Lenin.
Through a phonecall, the Academy authority reportedly informed a local of Leirongthel Pitra around 9:45 am yesterday that Lenin was found hung to death at the campus in the morning.
Conveying suspicion about Lenin's death, S Gambhir Singh, JAC convenor, alleged that upon being informed of the young warden's death, his family had requested the Academy authority to refrain from touching the dead body and to keep it in the state it was discovered in, until their arrival.
However, when they arrived, the body was reportedly found on the ground/floor, raising suspicion of whether he really hung himself, said the JAC convenor.
Urging the State Government to book the culprits allegedly involved in Lenin's death by October 11, S Gambhir has cautioned that failing to do so will result in the initiation of intense agitations from the next day onwards.
The JAC has refused to claim the mortal remains of Lenin until the alleged perpetrators are brought to justice.
