Imphal, April 29: The Pongringlong (Charoipandongba) Village Authority has decried the deed of lease signed between Gainaichung Malangmei of Pongringlong village and Heikrujam Thoithoi Singh of Khumbong on August 11 for leasing out land/farmland of the village measuring an area of 200 hectares for a period of 99 years without the knowledge of the village authority.

An emergency meeting held on April 22 at the public ground of Pongringlong village has also resolved to oppose the lease signed between the duo for the purpose of setting up a bamboo plantation/farm under the ownership of the Manipur State Young Farmers' Association for which Thoithoi is the president, according to a statement jointly issued by chairman of the Pongringlong village authority G Lungaingam and secretary of Pei (Thoubei) of the village G Ningtoulung.
