Imphal, January 23 2026: School Management Committee convenor Samim has urged the authority concerned to rebuild the two classroom at the grounds of Khurai Heigrumakhong Junior High School, as instructed by Khurai AC MLA L Susindro, allegedly in compliance with the order of the Education Department.

Speaking to the media today, Samim said that earlier there were three schools in the area- Khumidok Gandhi Memorial Primary School, Khumidok Heigru-makhong Primary School and Khurai Heigrumakhong Junior High School.

According to an order issued by the Education Commissioner in 2019, the three schools were amalgamated to Khurai Heigrumakhong Junior High School.

Following the amalgamation, the Government notified the construction of two classrooms at Khurai Heigrumakhong Junior High School as necessary infrastructure upgradation.

According to the convenor, the two classrooms demolished recently were built at a site where the school no longer existed.

The classrooms were reportedly constructed at the grounds of what used to be Khumidok Heigrumakhong Primary School, which is one of the three schools that underwent amalgamation.

As efforts were made to build the two classrooms at the grounds of Khurai Heigrumakhong Junior High School, Friends Union Club and local meira paibis strongly opposed the development, claimed Samim.

Amidst the sticky situation, she met the Khurai AC MLA accompanied by the school Headmaster.

At the meeting, the MLA also affirmed the Government notice to build the classrooms at Khurai Heigrumakhong Junior High School.

He advised them against constructing the infrastructure anywhere else, cautioning them of possible "damages/harm" otherwise.

She recalled that a meeting was subsequently held with members of Friends Union Club and the school Headmaster to discuss the issue where she was also present.

The school Headmaster allegedly told the Club members to meet the MLA and resolve the matter.

However, this suggestion was reportedly turned down.

In order to end the dispute, the MLA personally came to the school where a dialogue was initiated with the School Authority, School Management Committee and Club members.

Here, L Susindro reportedly laid down plans for the construction of the two classrooms at Khurai Heigrumakhong Junior High School and instructed the Headmaster to promptly inform him in case of any opposition or impediments in the construction process.

Despite his instructions, the new classrooms were built at Khumidok Heigrumakhong Primary School in violation of the Government order, she claimed.

In the interest of the young students, Samim has urged the classrooms to be rebuilt at Khurai Heigrumakhong Junior High School and appealed for a resolution to the dispute.

The press briefing was held at Khumidok Gandhi Memorial Primary School.
