Ukhrul Autonomous District Council Chair-
man Dr Yaronsho Ngalung has launched a one
day tree plantation programme at Phungyar to-
day, reports Mungchan Zimik.
Prior to the programme, a public meeting
was held at Phungyar village community hall
where importance of forest regeneration was
deliberated.
Dr Y Ngalung stated water scarcity prob-
lems faced by the people of the district have
been apprised to the Union Ministry of
Drinking Water and Sanitation for develop-
ing rain water harvest system and maximum
installation of hand pumps in the district.
A memorandum to the Ministry of Road
Transport and Highway to re-bid the con-
struction of NH 102(A) from Shangshak
village to Tengoupal, Chandel district has
also been submitted, he said.
ADC Vice-Chairman KS Thanmi said
that the elected Members will ensure better
services for the people of the district.
More than 950 saplings were planted in
and around Phungyar areas and participated
by around 300 villagers including ADC
Members.
