Senapati, October 12 2026:
The Naga Women's Union (NWU) has condemned the horrifying beheading of Ajinbou Ringkangmai of Makui Ashang Village on October 10, 2026, describing it as one of the cruelest forms of war crimes.
The NWU has expressed deep concern over the deliberate and recurring pattern of beheading and mutilation of human bodies by Kuki militants.
The union has condemned the killings of civilians in Makui Ashang and Tapon villages on October 10, 2026, including Ajinbou Ringkangmai, Dibambou Ringkangmai, Machungamang Daimai and Ramningpou Gangmei.
The NWU has also condemned the reported killings of Ngachanso Ningshen and Leishishan Leishadang of Ningchou village, Kamjong district, on the same day.
"No political demand, illegitimate claim, ethnic hostility, or armed confrontation can justify such degrading treatment of human beings", a press release from the NWU stated.
The NWU said it stands in solidarity with the bereaved families and supports the demand of the Working Committee of the JTC-Manipur for immediate return of Ajinbou Ringkangmai's head so that his family may perform the final rites and accord him a dignified burial.
The union urged the Government of Manipur and the Government of India to investigate allegations concerning armed groups operating under Suspension of Operations (SoO) arrangements and to take appropriate action wherever violations are established.
The gravity of these incidents demands a response proportionate to the suffering of the victims and the legitimate concerns of their communities, it stated.
The NWU has also urged the Government to intervene promptly and decisively to prevent further incidents of beheading, mutilation and the killing of civilians.
If such heinous acts are left unchecked and unpunished, there is a grave risk that armed groups will continue to commit such inhumane acts with impunity, it said.
The mutilation and beheading of the six Naga civilian hostages at Leilon Vaiphei village, followed by the horrific beheading of a Naga civilian at Makui have revealed an alarming pattern of exceptionally cruel violence.
The deliberate mutilation and beheading of civilians constitute serious war crimes and violation of international humanitarian law.
Such extremely cruel acts must never be tolerated or allowed to become normalised, the NWU said.
