WMC accuses BJP of deflecting failure

Imphal, October 12 2026: aking a swipe at the BJP, the World Meetei Council (WMC) has accused the party of deflecting its failure to curb violence and resolve the Manipur crisis.

Instead of taking concrete steps to curb violence and resolve the crisis which has besieged the State, the BJP-led Government and the party leaders are engaged in levelling "politically charged allegations of sexual harassment against Congress MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam" in an attempt to deflect its failure, it said in a statement.

The WMC asserted that the party leaders who are taking out rallies [against MP Bimol] were "silent" when women and children were allegedly raped and killed and thrown in the Barak River.

When the truth regarding the JNU case will come out eventually, instead of playing party politics for political mileage, the State BJP leaders must prioritise their concern and efforts on resolving the Manipur crisis, it said.
