Thoubal, October 12 2026:
The Committee on Protection of Meitei Victims (COPMeV) Moreh, Chairman Leishangthem Inaocha has raised concern on the Government's proposed measures to initiate free trade in Moreh when the internally displaced persons (IDPs) remain unable to return and resettle in their native place.
Inaocha questioned the Indian Government's hidden agenda and policy on such an initiative when the ongoing crisis has not been resolved.
He was speaking at the 18th foundation day celebration of All Community Development Organisation ACODOM Moreh held at GPAY Cafe hall at Samaram Lamkhai in Thoubal district.
He expressed discontent that the Government has failed to take up concrete measures to address the issues of IDPs and facilitate their resettlement process despite repeated appeals.
He also pointed out that the Chief Minister has failed to fulfil his assurance for rehabilitation of IDPs.
Highlighting that the IDPs continue to be in a pitiable state and are facing immense difficulties, he stressed that the proposed initiative of free trade in Moreh without Meiteis is highly questionable.
In view of the above, he appealed to all IDPs to stay vigilant of such Government measures at this critical juncture.
The event was also attended by ACODOM president Thangjam Buddha and Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup Moreh advisor Yumnam Jotila as the presidium members.
