Hard work and dedication leads to success, says Hiren Sagolsem

Hard
work will surely lead to
success, said the State young
swimmer Hiren Sagolsem
who set a new National record
in the 50 m freestyle event at
the recently held 33rd
Glenmark Sub-Junior
National Aquatic Champion-
ship, organised by the
Swimming Federation of
India at Bangalore.
From an early age Hiren
began his journey in 2010
by attending regular coach-
ing, conducted by the
Department of Youth Af-
fairs and Sports at Khuman
Lampak Swimming Pool.
In 2012, under the super-
vision of SAI coach N
Debeshor he attended 'come
and play' a training course
which is conducted under
the aegis of Sports Author-
ity of India (SAI).
Apart from participating
in various State age group
competitions, Hiren made
his National debut in Group-
4 category at the Sub-Junior
National Aquatic Champi-
onship 2013 held at Goa.
Further in 2014, Hiren
bagged a bronze medal in
100 m freestyle competition
of the Sub-Junior National
Aquatic Championship held
at Madhya Pradesh.
After
this Hiren put in double ef-
forts in training and his hard
work paid off after he
clinched a silver medal in
both 50 m and 100 m free-
style events at Sub-Junior
National Aquatic Champi-
onship held at Pune.
It may be mentioned that
in the recently held 33rd
Glenmark Sub-Junior Na-
tional Aquatic
Championship at Bangalore,
Hiren set a new National
record in the 50 m freestyle
event.
He took 26.47 sec
while the previous National
record was 26.56 sec set by
Sanjay C of Karnataka in
2014.
In the said championship,
he also won gold in the 100
m and 200 m freestyle com-
petitions and a bronze medal
in the 50 m butterfly event.
Hiren Sagolsem hails
from Rupmahal Tank BT
Road, Imphal and is the sec-
ond son of Ajit Sagolsem
and Sagolsem Thadoi.
He is
currently studying in Class
8 at Hundred Flower
School.
