Imphal East cops rescued abducted persons

Imphal East district commandos have rescued four abducted persons since July 3 from different places of the State including Letkhothang Khongsai (55), chief of Mongkot Chepu, Litan who was rescued from his abductors on July 16 from Minuthong Road junction while he was being carried in a Maruti car.
According to SP of Imphal East, Kamei Angam Romanus, the village chief was rescued when a team of Imphal East district police conducted frisking and checking at Minuthong junction.
During the operation, one suspected vehicle (MN04/A-1222) along with five occupants were detained and frisked.
A 7.65mm automatic pistol was recovered from one of the occupants identified as Thangtinlen Baite, it said.
Further verification revealed that Letkhothang Khongsai (55) s/o (L) Paokholen Khongsai, Chief of Mongkot Chepu, Litan in Ukhrul district narrated that he was abducted by the four persons who came along with him.
The four abductors were identified as Mangkholen Haokip (42) s/o Thangmang of Tuibong, CCPur; Thangtinlen Baite (26) s/o Hemkholal Baite of B Phaicham; Jamkhogin Guite (18) s/o Shothang Guite of M Songgel; and Tongsei Baite (45) s/o Thongso Baite of Chungkhopi, all from CCPur.
They revealed that they were cadres of Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF).
They were arrested on the spot, the statement said.
The Imphal East district commandos also rescued another missing girl, Mangolnganbi alias Memthoi (16) d/o Haobijam Ibomcha of Moirang Chingmei from the house of one Akoijam Shanti Devi (60) w/o Ak Laingam of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai on July 10 last.
Another abducted person, identified as Md Atao Rehman (32) s/o (L) Md Heshamuddin of Lilong Awang Leikai, presently staying at JNIMS morgue quarters, Porompat as caretaker of JNIMS morgue, who was abducted by unknown persons on July 13, was also rescued from the clutches of the abductors from Khurai Ahongei Leikai near the house of Th Rustum alias Md Amjad Khan, the IE police statement said.
On July 5, the Imphal East cops had also rescued Manggoulen Misao from his abductors in Senapati district after he was kidnapped from his New Checkon residence on July 3 .
