Torch rally staged against trade, abuse of illicit substances

Thoubal, July 14 2024: Womenfolk of Thoubal Kshetri Leikai took out a torch rally yesterday night calling for an end to trade and consumption of illicit drugs.

Thoubal Kshetri Leikai Apunba Meira Paibi Lup carried out the torch rally in the surrounding areas of Kshetri Leikai in collaboration with Thoubal police, station.

The rally was kicked off from Kshetri Leikai Laibung, passed through Yairipok and culminated at Moirangpalli.

The protestors shouted slogans such as "Stop selling illicit drugs", "Stop consuming narcotic substances" and "Stop trade and purchase of alcohol", among others.

Speaking by the sideline of the torch rally, .meira paibi leader Kshetrimayum Tampha stated that even in the midst of this protracted conflict, some individuals are guided by money and earning profits and continue to sell narcotics like marijuana, alcohol, heroin no.4 and other drugs even at the cost of human lives.

The torch rally was taken out to prohibit the sale and purchase of such illicit substances in Thoubal kshetri Leikai, she further informed.

Additionally, she cautioned that appropriate legal action will be taken against anyone found violating this restriction with the help of meira paibis and local police.
