Free heart disease screening, special outreach health camp conducted

Shija Hospitals & Research Institute (SHRI) in collaboration with the National Health Mission-Tripura organised a 1-Day Free Congenital Heart Disease Screening Camp at the District Hospital in Santirbazar, South Tripura on Saturday.
According to a release issued by SHRI, a team led by Dr Sidartha Lukram, Consultant Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgeon, SHRI, conducted comprehensive medical examinations and offered free consultations including echocardiograms to 28 individuals.
During the camp, the team identified several cases requiring specialized treatment such as device closure for Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), open heart repair due to a large VSD, open heart repair for VSD with Pulmonary Stenosis (PS), PDA closure.
Few of the patients were referred for a CECT chest scan, and two patients were recommended for BD Shunt procedures.
Meanwhile, in view of the approaching summer season, Urban Primary Health Centre, Sagolband under the supervision of Sagolband AC MLA Rk Imo Singh organised the first Free Medical Camp of the fiscal year 2024-25 today at Ebudhou Moirang Apokpa Shanglen, Thokchom Leikai of Ward No 8 .
A release issued by the PRO of Sagolband MLA informed that this initiative stands as a cornerstone program of the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), aimed at providing essential healthcare services to the community.
Commencing today, this vital initiative will be conducted across 12 locations within Sagolband, exemplifying a commitment to comprehensive healthcare coverage across the constituency.
The Free Medical Camp offered a spectrum of healthcare facilities including free diagnostic tests, free medicines, and crucial screenings for early detection of cervical and breast cancer, among other services.
Speaking on the occasion, Rk Kiran, president of Manipur Peoples Club, Thokchom Leikai expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MLA, medical team of the UPHC, and all residents for their enthusiastic support.
He also acknowledged the pivotal role played by the media in disseminating information about the camp and encouraged continued collaboration for the betterment of public health.
