Assistive devices distributed to differently abled persons, senior citizens

Noney, October 09 2024:
An awareness programme cum distribution of assistive devices to disabled and elderly beneficiaries under the Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) and Aids for Visually Impaired (AVI) schemes was conducted today at Noney district.
The event was a collaborative effort between the Integrated Mission Project Action for Community Transformation (IMPACT) and the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) .
The camp was attended by esteemed dignitaries including Dinganglung Gangmei, retd IAS, HAC Chairman and MLA of 54-ST Nungba AC; Dr Z Kamei, Chief Medical Officer Noney and Singupngam Thaimei, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) as the presidium members.
The camp aimed to distribute essential aid or assistive devices to differently abled individuals and senior citizens above 60 years.
These included hearing aids, walking sticks, wheelchairs, tricycles, knee braces, spinal supports, folding commode and CPC cerebral palsy chair.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, the HAC Chairman emphasized the importance of helping those in need, stating that it is everyone's purpose in life to assist those who require it the most.
The event marked a significant step towards empowering the differently abled persons and senior citizens in the region, providing them with essential tools to lead a more independent and dignified life.
