Cease work strike launched, gate of Moirang Municipal Council locked

The aggrieved casual staff, daily wage and muster roll employees of Moirang Municipal Council (MMC) which is under MAHUD Department locked the gate of the council and launched a cease work strike today protesting against the non-disbursal of pending 9-months salary.
In line with the cease work strike, a protest demonstration was staged in front o'f the gate of MMC where the protestors used placards which read 'No Pay No Work', 'Release the salary of the employees timely', etc.
Speaking in connection with the protest, one of the staff of MMC said that the casual staff, daily wage and muster roll employees of the council who belong to poor and needy households majorly have been working sincerely to keep the areas under the council including the 12 wards, Moirang Keithel, Moirang Lamkhai and tourist spots clean and hygienic.
Highlighting that these employees are facing immense problems amid the prevailing situation in the State and rising inflation rate coupled with the pending salary for 9 months, he urged the authorities concerned to release the pending salary at the earliest.
He maintained that the office of Moirang Municipal Council will remain locked and the cease work strike will continue until the pending salary is released.
