Imphal, August 29 2015 :
The Council of Teachers Associations (COTA) has urged the concerned authorities to re-open all educational institutions which remain shut till date.
After condoling the demise of Sapam Robinhood in the course of public agitation for enforcement of ILPS or similar mechanism in Manipur, members of COTA staged a protest demonstration at Sagolband Moirang Leirak.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the protest demonstration, COTA co-convenor M Joykumar said it is rather unfortunate that the last rites of Sapam Robinhood have not been performed till date.
He urged the Government to bring a solution to the public of ILPS and let the bereaved family of Robinhood perform his last rites.
The Government should give due consideration to the fact that a huge section of students have been denied formal education since the past two months.
The Government should take up all necessary measures so that all the educational institutions can resume normal classes at the earliest.
Although the country would be celebrating Teachers' Day on September 5, teachers of the State are not sure whether they should join the celebration or stay away from it in view of the restive situation prevailing in the State, Joykumar said.
