Imphal, May 02 2015 :
The Kuki National Organisation (KNO) on Thursday submitted a representation to the Chief Minister of Manipur conveying its disapproval of the proposed closure of Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF/KNO) designated camp at Simol, Khengjoi subdivision Chandel district.
A statement issued by Th Stephen, secretary, information and publicity, KNO said that Ministry of Home Affairs accepted and approved the proposal for setting up of the KNLF camp on condition that the camp be constructed by the group itself without any financial liability of the Centre and State Govt.Accordingly, KNLF/KNO camp was established and constructed at the designated place within Khengjoi sub-division of Chandel district with the support from locals.
The camp was occupied by the cadres since May 9, 2014 till date, it said.
However, surprisingly the outpost commander of Molcham army camp belonging to the 6 Dogra under 26th Sector IGAR (S), made his apparition to the KNLF/KNO camp and compelled the cadres to leave the camp with immediate effect for reason best known to him, said the statement.
It further said that KNO will not allow the cadres of its constituent armed wing KNLF to leave their camp till a trilateral amicable solution regarding the matter is made.
KNO also urged CM O Ibobi to intervene into the matter and ensure that the camp remained intact.
