Imphal, May 02 2015 :
Kangchup Chiru Youth Club (KCYC) has alleged the State Government of showing indifferent attitude to the suffering of storm affected people of Kangchup Chiru, Senapati district.
Speaking at a press meet, KCYC president Angir Chiru said that the club has been providing relief materials to the affected families after a storm that lashed the State in April 22 causing damage to most of the standing crops and razing about 27 houses of Kangchup Chiru village.
Unlike the State Government, various civil organisations/associations had donated relief items for the affected families.
The State Government has been approached about the situation umpteen times by the people without any positive outcome, the president alleged.
Written appeals were made to the IFCD Minister, local MLA, SDOs, TD Department and Senapati DC stressing the unfortunate situation the locals were placed due to the storm, he stated.
"The indifferent attitude shown by the State has compelled us to question ourself if we really are a part of this State," the president stated.
He further made fresh appeal to the State Government and the authorities concerned to acknowledge the degree of damage caused by the storm and arrange for a suitable relief for the effected families.
