The Co-ordinating Committee, which has been formed jointly by various college students' unions, has demanded development of infrastructure in the colleges of Manipur to suit with the changing time.
The Co-ordinating Committee was formed during a joint meeting of representatives of various college students' unions held at Imphal College here today.
General secretary of Maharaja Bodhachandra College Students' Union Thokchom Naoba has been elected as convenor of the new Co-ordinating Committee with gen secy of Kakching Kha-Khunou College Students' Union Oinam Sital and gen secy of Thoubal College Students' Union Robert Okley as the co-convenors.
The demands of the Co-ordinating Committee include appointment of regular principals in the colleges where the posts are still lying vacant; conduct of the BA, B Sc and B Com Ist year, 2nd and 3rd year exam on semester system from upcoming academic session, opening of professional courses in the technical colleges from the upcoming academic session, providing internet facilities to all the libraries in colleges, providing hostel facilities in all the colleges and setting up of a Council on Higher Education in Manipur.
After a detailed discussion on the ways and means of exerting pressures on the Govt to implement these demands, the meeting concluded with the resolution on organising a workshop in this regard in last week of next month.
