DC calls on Khemchand

Deputy Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Tinsukia Region Taorem Pritam Singh paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand to discuss various issues pertaining to the functioning and expansion of KVs in Manipur today.
The meeting was held at the CM's bungalow at 1 pm accompanied by noted social activist Dayanand Sharma and alumnus of KV No 1 Imphal (Lamphelpat), said a press release.
During the interaction, a significant focus was laid on the proposal for opening 9 new Kendriya Vidyalayas across different districts of the State, including Senapati, Kakching, Thoubal, Jiribam.
Tengnoupal, Kamjong, and Bishnupur, among others.
The DC KVS RO Tinsukia apprised the Chief Minister that while proposals for the establishment of KVs have been received from the District Magistrates of certain districts such as Senapati and Kakching, proposals from several other districts are still awaited.
He requested the Chief Minister to facilitate the submission of these proposals at the earliest.
The DC KVS RO Tinsukia also requested the State Government to extend necessary support in terms of provision of suitable land and fulfillment of other essential requirements for the early establishment of these new KVs.
A special emphasis was laid on the long-pending issue concerning Kendriya Vidyalaya Akampat, which has been functioning from a temporary building at Khurai Lamlong for over a decade.
The DC KVS RO Tinsukia highlighted that the allotment and development of land is a prerequisite for handing over the site to KVS for construction of permanent school infrastructure and called for the Chief Minister's intervention in this regard to expedite the resolution.
In response, Yumnam Khemchand assured to look into all the issues raised during the meeting.
Acknowledging the significant role played by KVs in strengthening the school education system both across the country and within Manipur, the Chief Minister also commended the efforts of DC KVS RO Tinsukia and assured full cooperation from the State Government.
In conclusion, Taorem Pritam Singh conveyed that he would be glad to facilitate the opening of an additional Kendriya Vidyalaya in Imphal, subject to the timely provision of land and other required support from the State Government.
