Bishnupur, February 08 2026:
Moirang Kendra Apunba Loumee Shinmi Amasung NupiLup (MKALSANL)has urged the newly formed State Government to disburse the outstanding crop compensation for farmers for 2023 and 2024.According to MKALSANL, the nearly 3-year old Manipur crisis has affected more than 5,000 paris of agricultural land in Bishnupur district alone.
Though some affected farmers were compensated for 2023, many continue to remain uncompensated for the said year.
In a press release, MKALSANL expressed appreciation to Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam who reportedly assured them to work on providing the remaining crop compensations for 2023 and for 2024 in consultation with Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand.
MKALSANL also expressed hope that the Chief Minister will address the memorandum submitted by farmers' bodies of the district.
It conveyed similar hope of swift action from the Additional Chief Secretary and Agriculture Department where similar memorandums were submitted.
MKALSANL also recalled that farmers' organisations have repeatedly appealed for crop compensation from the concerned authorities of the State, including the former Chief Minister N Biren Singh, the subsequent PR Government (Governor) and the concerned Agriculture Department.
Farmers of Bishnupur district, with the support of State Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), had resolved to launch a protest from November 15, 2025 but withdrew the decision after reaching an understanding with the PR Government.
