World Tourism Day / 1st Lizai Fest celebrated with grandeur at Sadim Lizai Lake

The World Tourism Day cum 1st Lizai Fest was celebrated with much enthusiasm on September 27 and 28, 2025, under the theme, "Tourism and Sustainable Transformation" at the picturesque Sadim Lizai Lake, one of Senapati district's most scenic and culturally significant sites.
The event was organized in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Government of Manipur, bringing together visitors, artists, cultural groups, and community leaders to highlight the tourism potential of the region while celebrating cultural diversity and heritage.
The two-day event featured a variety of programs, with the inaugural function on September 27, marked by welcome address, cultural dances, and presentations by local groups commemorating the World Tourism Day.
The day was filled with vibrant displays of Maram traditional culture alongside stalls showcasing indigenous cuisine, handicrafts, and eco-friendly products, providing a platform for local entrepreneurs and artisans.
A major highlight was the Musical Night, where local talents and guest performers entertained audiences with cultural showcases, folk fusion, and interactive activities, creating an atmosphere of festivity and unity.
The celebration also underscored the importance of Sadim Lizai Lake as a potential tourism destination in Manipur, blending natural beauty with rich cultural traditions.
The formal inaugural session was graced by Mamoni Doley, Deputy Commissioner of Senapati as the chief guest, Siile Anthony, Former Director, HRD, NEC, Govt of India, as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Mamoni Doley called upon the local communities to safeguard the heritage of the village.
She also highlighted the district's unique festivals, including the Cherry Blossom Festival, Cosmos Festival, Barak Festival, stressing the importance of promoting them to attract visitors worldwide.
The DC further pointed out that Senapati, with its scenic beauty and cultural richness, has all the potential to become a leading tourism hub.
She encouraged youth groups to act responsibly in preserving nature while contributing to tourism development.
